Implementation of the highest standards of environmental safety is the responsibility of industry's leaders

PJSC «Concern Stirol» follows environmental protection policy as a key one, regularly upgrading the equipment and improving its internal systems functioning. In addition, the Concern joined Responsible Care Global Charter along with all OSTCHEM plants and implements its own initiatives in accordance with program  “Responsible Care of the Chemical Industry in Ukraine”. The success of the realized ecological projects is confirmed by the fact that PJSC «Concern Stirol» managed to reduce the level of harmful emissions in terms of the output growth.

Water basin protection 

PJSC «Concern Stirol» stopped discharging its wastewater into the Donbass rivers over thirteen years ago. It was achieved due to adoption of innovative water treatment facilities and the implementation of water consumption closed cycle system in production process. The technology of water purification using the reverse osmosis systems, ultra - and nano-filtration units allow the plant to meet own technological needs and to take other industrial enterprises and city mines’ wastewaters on purification with the total mineralization about 2 grams per liter. The Concern’s water treatment facilities receive municipal wastewater and recycle the mine waters preventing the discharge of hazardous waste into the Korsun river.

Atmospheric air protection

PJSC «Concern Stirol» permanently works on the reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. According to State Administration of Environment Protection in Donetsk region the emission level at “Concern Stirol” is by 39% less than permissible norm. This index fully complies with requirements of EU regulations. To realize the constant control of the environmental situation in the region, PJSC «Concern Stirol» implemented the first in Ukraine Environment Automatic Control System (EACS) monitoring meteorological parameters and providing the data online in free access. The system use the five posts located in the zone of enterprise influence in the distance from 1.5 to 3.5 km from the emission sources in the most populated areas. Information is taken for pollutants: nitrogen oxides, ammonia, sulfur oxides, carbon oxides. Every 15 minutes the data are displayed on the enterprise’s server and are available for responsible manager.

All wastes of 1st and 2nd hazard class are entirely directed to the specialized enterprises to be processed. Waste catalysts, auto tyres, rubber wastes, used batteries, plastics and paper waste as well as scrap metal are utilized. The process of utilization is carried out under all the environment care rules. PJSC “Concern Stirol” engineering management controls each contractor and is responsible for their observance of the regulations.
